We want you to feel good when you smile. Having damaged teeth can make it more difficult to feel the confidence you deserve, but there’s no reason to let it take a toll on your self-esteem. A healthy mouth and a more attractive smile can be achieved in just one appointment at Machias Dental.

What is CEREC?

CEREC is a dental technology developed by Sirona Dental Systems designed to restore damaged teeth by creating all ceramic crowns, onlays and veneers in one single visit. CEREC crowns make your teeth stronger and give them a beautiful natural appearance. They are metal-free, and comprised of high-grade ceramic material that is compatible with the natural tissue found in your mouth. They are an excellent option if you want to avoid the negative elements that can be associated with traditional crowns.

Why choose CEREC?

There are many advantages to using CEREC over traditional crown technology. With CEREC, there is no need for a temporary crown. This saves you time by speeding up your treatment timeline, eliminating the need for multiple office visits and the worry of having your temporary crown fall off while your permanent crown is being created. There are also no messy goopy impressions necessary to create your CEREC crown. The strong, tooth-colored ceramic materials will restore your teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and function all in the same day.

CEREC restorations are remarkably lifelike and can even be tailored to match the natural shade of your teeth. Because CEREC is considered a milled ceramic, they’re stronger than traditional porcelain crowns, which require layering and pressing. So, your CEREC smile will stay beautiful for years.

What is the CEREC process?

During your appointment with Dr. Sparaga and his team, we will discuss your options with you and you will be able to ask any questions you may have. The process will start with a thin layer of reflective powder that will be applied to your tooth. Then, we will use our special 3D imaging camera to take a digital photograph of it. Using CEREC’s proprietary software, your dental restoration will be designed according to your tooth’s specific form and function. Our CEREC machine’s diamond burs will get to work creating your restoration out of a piece of high quality ceramic, right here in our office. Finally, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using a state-of-the-art adhesive made specifically for dentistry. You’ll be ready to go home with your beautiful new restoration! It’s that easy!
